Prayer does not change God’s mind. It changes mine.
God is clear, consistent, serene and self-sufficient. There is nothing to re-align, nothing to coax, nothing to negotiate. He is complete. He is One. God cannot be manipulated — nor does He need to be.
He is not a distant, harsh deity waiting to be appeased or flattered into compassion. He is not deaf to your situation nor indifferent to your need. God is closer than the breath you are drawing right now.
The Father knows what you need before you ask. He does not require your many words to become informed. He does not need to be reminded or coerced into being a present and responsible Father.
So then — what is the point of prayer?
Prayer is the means by which we seek and enter into the peace of God within — whatever the circumstance. It is the space through which His Spirit begins to influence and align us with His wisdom, His counsel, His perspective.
Prayer is not how we change God’s mind. It is how God renews ours.
That is not a small thing. That is everything.
