Hunger for meaning

The ego needs success to thrive; the soul needs meaning .. Richard Rohr.

These words jumped up from the book at me, not to teach me something new, but rather to confirm something I had already discovered. The game is rigged.

No quest, goal, or project ever delivers on its promise to fully satisfy. Each success leaves you happy and fulfilled, but only for a while.

I had tried to play the game, aspiring for the things you are told define success. Yet, I found only illusion and lies – promises that always fell short.

Like a fish out of water all my life, I had never felt suited to the so-called rat race and quest for success. I discovered that finding meaning was for me the only true and noble pursuit.

For me, this translated into a need to understand who and what I really am. Where was home, and what truly fulfils?

Grace came to the rescue, setting me on a journey that gives meaning and focus to life and existence.

I would describe this journey as a conscious and deliberate walk towards whatever gives meaning to life and living. This often takes you in a direction quite opposite to the world’s standards of success.

This journey is also an evolving and emerging process invisibly directed by the intuition of your heart. God, the Universe, the Holy Spirit becomes your active Companion, Guide, Teacher, and Helper.

This journey is about consciousness and active ‘seeing’. Through experience and participation, I am becoming more one with God, the source of all things. You become aware and involved in the process; it is a collaboration. We are indeed ‘co-workers’ with God.

It’s a space where you start seeing ‘coincidences’ in your life for what they really are – miracles.

You start to see cohesion in your universe. You witness and experience an acceleration of insight, knowledge, and wisdom.

You find meaning that mere words cannot fully describe. This journey gives meaning to your soul. It nourishes you like manna in the desert and morning dew on parched lips. It frees you from the ego’s fixations and empowers you to be fulfilled and function fully in the real world
